Overview

Artificial intelligence can help organizations process information and support decisions, but AI is not inherently neutral. Outputs can be influenced by training data, prompt design, incomplete context, assumptions, and the way decision problems are framed.

This session examines how bias can enter AI-supported workplace decisions and what leaders can do to reduce risk. Participants will explore how AI may affect hiring, talent discussions, performance management, employee communication, leadership decisions, and other people-related processes.

The program will provide practical techniques for questioning AI-generated recommendations, identifying missing perspectives, testing assumptions, and recognizing situations where additional human review is needed.

Participants will also examine how AI can be used constructively to broaden thinking. For example, AI can help teams explore alternative viewpoints, identify stakeholders who may be affected differently, challenge assumptions, and consider additional questions before making a decision.

By the end of the session, attendees will have a framework for using AI critically and responsibly while supporting more inclusive, transparent, and thoughtful people decisions.

Why you should Attend

AI is increasingly used to support workplace decisions, but AI-generated recommendations can reflect incomplete information, hidden assumptions, or bias. Leaders and people professionals need the ability to critically evaluate AI outputs rather than automatically accepting them.

This session explores the intersection of AI, diversity, equity, and inclusion and provides practical strategies for making more thoughtful people decisions. Participants will learn how bias can enter AI-supported processes, how to question recommendations, and how to use AI to surface additional perspectives and assumptions. The session will also explore how AI can support inclusive thinking when paired with strong human judgment. Attendees will leave better equipped to use AI responsibly while promoting fair, transparent, and well-informed workplace decisions.
